Third Grade Unit 2 Intro and "Studio Sprint"

Third graders have began connecting their Wit and Wisdom Space unit with their art in art class!  To do this, we discussed:

The third grade artists chose a prompt to get their creativity in gear!

They then tentatively chose a material to work with for their final work.

Then, it was time to explore all the material option to know for sure which one to pick based on interest.  Here they are in ART ACTION:

Fourth Grade Unit 2 Intro and "Studio Sprint"

Fourth graders have started their architecture unit to design a building that can withstand an extreme setting by becoming familiar with their material options in a "Studio Sprin".  This is where they are able to spend 5-10 minutes at a center exploring materials to samples them in order to make an informed decision on what material to choose.

First, they were introduced to the lesson content:

To plan their design, students first chose a promtpt and then a center.

Second Grade- Unit 1 Changes in Nature Collage Critiques

Second grade artists worked very hard on creating a collage showing change in nature.  They were able to choose to create their artwork showing realistic change or imaginary change.  We ended the unit with an special TAG (Tell the artist something you like about their work, Ask the artist a question, Give the artist a suggestion) critique.

Fifth Grade- Unit 2- Word Play using Clay

Fifth grade artists just started their unit 2 project with a clay studio sprint.  We spend some time learning about clay and trying out various clay techniques.  Soon, they will choose an idiom or phrase and create a clay sculpture to visually convey their chosen word play.

After learning about clay techniques and planning their design, fifth grade artists quickly began molding their creative ideas into sculptures that visually depict their chosen idiom.
